Hoya archboldiana C. Norman

This hoya comes from Papua New Guinea and it was described in 1937.

It's a climbing hoya with rather big leaves, about 12-16 cm long and 4.5-5 cm wide. The leaves have a prominent vein along the middle and no silver flecks. Hoya archboldiana has thick hard leaves. New leaves have a dark brownish red colour.

The flowers, which last about 2 weeks, are cup shaped with the corolla lobes bending backwards. The corolla is pink (paler towards the corona) and the corona is dark pink/red.  Each flower is about 4-5 cm and there are about 5-15 flowers in each umbel. The fragrance is a lot like gardenia, just like onychoides.
