I bought
this hoya as a big hanging plant in July 1998. It was one of my
first "unusual" hoyas and I was thrilled to have found it. It was
labelled "carnosa" but I knew that much about hoyas back then that I
knew it was not the correct name. For many years I believed it to be
Hoya kentiana, but it seems I was wrong and it should be wayetii. It
flowered for the first time in July 1999, when I had had it one year.
It has flowered a lot since then and the only negative I can think
of with this hoya is all the sticy nectar that gets on the hoyas
underneath and on the floor... |

I
hardly ever repotted this plant because of the size and I've had to
pay a price for that. Last summer it got really sunburned, but I
thought it would green back during the winter. Well, it didn't and I
tried to give it some new soil (it had hardly any left in the pot)
in the spring 2005. It didn't help much, so in September 2005 I cut
all the vines off and potted as many nice looking ones I could in a
pot and they seem to have rooted nicely. I've now placed it on a
piedestal in front of a low window but behind all the other hoyas. |
