This hoya comes from
Sabah on Borneo (Malaysia) and it was published in 2004. This hoya has
been sold under different names before, like sp. Flecked Leaf and
hasseltii, but the correct name for this hoya should be sigillatis.
The name sigillatis means many marks/flecks. Hoya hasseltii is, I
believe, another hoya... |
|
This hoya is
best grown as a hanging plant. The leaves are rather small, about
2,5-8 cm long and 1-1.5 cm wide. The leaves have lots of grey flecks
and some can almost be considered covered with it! The leaves are
normally green under the grey flecks, but if this hoya is grown in
bright sun the leaves will get a lovely red colour and the foliage on
this hoya is absolutely gorgeous! |
|
The flowers are
recurved, about 8-9 mm in diameter and you'll find about 20-25 flowers
in each umbel. The corolla is sort of apricot orange and the corona is
more towards yellow. The flowers last about a week and were said to
have no
fragrance, but I've noticed a butter scotch fragrance. There is also a
variety with pink flowers, NS 07-039. |
