Hoya verticillata T (Wahl) G. Don

This hoya comes from Indonesia and it was described in 1837.

There are many varieties of this hoya and different colours of the flowers and some variations of the leaves. Some people want to call this Hoya parasitica, and some say the true name should be Hoya verticillata.

It's a climbing hoya with leaves about 6-11 cm long and 2.5-6 cm wide. The leaves are ovate, quite thick and hard, light green with lighter veins and some silver flecks. Some verticillata have more visible veins and more flecks than others. One variety has leaves with a lot of silver flecks. Once a cutting is rooted and established, Hoya verticillata is a fast growing plant with thick foliage. This hoya can flower relatively early, sometimes even as a cutting!

The flowers are reflexed, about 1-1.5 cm and the colour vary from green, white, pink to almost red. The flowers have mostly a spicy fragrance, last about 5 days and some produce only a little nectar and others a lot.
